Game 5: Tallmadge 25, Springfield 0

Catchy nicknames were about all the Springfield Spartans could come up with as happy days returned to Overdale Field with a huge 25-0 shutout by B Team Blue!

The Blue Devils lost the coin flip (which was about the only thing that went badly for them!) but the defense quickly handed possession back to the offensive unit as they began their first drive. It only took 3 plays before Kane Wolfe broke out for a 52 yard touchdown run. Unfortunately, B Team Blue was unable to convert and the score was 6-0.

The Spartans' offense began moving the ball but fell victim to some penalties. The Blue Devils held the Spartans back on a big fourth down play as the first quarter came to a close and a 6-0 lead for B Team Blue.

The second quarter was fairly uneventful as play swung back and forth. At the mid point of the quarter, Andrew Francesconi abruptly ended the Spartans' drive with a huge fourth down play!

On the ensuing possession, it only took the Blue Devils four plays to strike again on a Michael Beane 39-yard touchdown run and a 12-0 lead for the good guys.

On the Spartans' next possession, B Team Blue recovered a fumble to give the offense another chance at the end zone from the Springfield 28-yard line before the end of the first half. Another hard 14-yard run by Kane Wolfe set the Blue Devils' up for a score from the 14,

and Michael Beane answered with another great run to the left. The first half came to a close as the Blue Devils took an 18-0 lead into the locker room.

B Team Blue returned to the field to a back and forth quarter, highlighted by a great and punishing tackle by Dallas Hukill

followed by another B Team Blue defense fourth down stop!

The fourth quarter was capped off by Kane Wolfe's second touchdown run of the day, this one from 27 yards out and a final score of 25-0!

An impressive victory once again for B Team Blue. The defense was huge today, and the offense met with absolutely no resistance. Fortunately for the Spartans, the clock ran out as the sun set on a beautiful and exciting evening at Overdale Field. Last but not least, we welcome back Jeff Natcher, who was sidelined for three weeks with a foot injury and played a heck of a ball game!

Next week, B Team Blue travels to Manchester. As always, it promises to be an entertaining game. Check the schedule with links to the map. It's far, so leave early!
